This story is loosely based on the episode
of the original Star Trek series, "The Tholian Web".
Didja Notice?
On page 4, since Sulu has locked them out of the bridge and
the turbolifts, Kirk tells Spock his plan to use the
Jefferies tubes to climb to the bridge. Jefferies tubes are
small service access tunnels on Starfleet ships and space
stations; they are named for Matt Jefferies, production
designer of the original Star Trek TV series.
This issue reveals that Keenser's rank is lieutenant.
Tholian Commander Loskene is the same commander who
intercepted the
Enterprise in the original series TV episode
"The Tholian Web".
